In case you didn’t know and haven’t had a chance to get properly pumped about it, the trailer for Virgin River Season 3 is out and all episodes for season 3 will officially hit Netflix on July 9th! That’s less than a month away! And as many of you know by now, when Virgin River steamed up the small screen on Netflix back at the end of 2019, I not only fell in love with the show, but subsequently dove into the equally romantic 20-book-strong Virgin River book series, discovered a love for the endlessly fun, delightfully escapist world of contemporary romance novels as a result and started a book club here on the blog for everyone who, like me, wanted to discover more of that Virgin River magic to fill our days (and nights)!
Virgin River Season 3
To celebrate the arrival of Virgin River Season 3 on Netflix and the return of Jack, Mel, Preacher, Doc and all of the Virgin River inhabitants, romantic entanglements and antics we love so much, I have to do a new summer book club with a comprehensive look at all of the contemporary romance reads I’ve had the most fun getting lost in over the last year and a half, organized by sub-genre for your summer reading pleasure. Past book club posts have all been tied to the pursuit of finding romance reads that are similar to the Virgin River series or that I’ve found, read and loved by way of that pursuit, and that remains the same, but this time around I thought I’d adjust a bit and group all of the romance series I’ve loved that I’ve read in the last year and a half, including new ones that I haven’t talked about here before, by the romance sub-genre they belong to so you can decide what you’re interested in and dive into that sub-genre wholeheartedly. Naturally, I’m listing all of the 20 Virgin River books first in the “Mountain Town Romance Novel” category for any of you who have yet to experience them, and from there you’ll see more sub-genre headings and all of the books I’ve had so much fun reading within those.

Also in past book club posts I’ve broken all of these series out with a pretty thorough description of what they’re all about, but this time I’m letting the sub-genre labels sort of serve as your description of what to expect. If I went in depth with full summaries of each series this would be a tediously long post that I think might defeat its purpose in serving as an easy resource for you to refer back to on your romance novel journey. If I didn’t love a series or didn’t have at least some amount of fun reading it, I didn’t list it here, so you can also rest easy knowing that every book series listed here gets an enthusiastic two thumbs up from me. What I did include that I’ve included in past book club posts is my 🌶 heat meter (so you can stay away from any series that you feel might be too spicy for you on the sexy time front) and a list of the individual books included in each series, in chronological order that you can come back to and use as an easy reference as you make your way through.
For all you Virgin River fans, I hope this list of recommendations help serve you with all the feel good, small town romance reading you can handle, and for those of you just looking for some easy summer reads that always have a happy ending and some fun characters to fall in love with, I promise you won’t be disappointed! And make sure you let me know here in the comments or over on Insta what reads from this list you’ve read and loved – I live for chatting romance reads with you guys!

ALL SUB-GENRES
The Navesink Bank Universe Series (by Jessica Gadziala)
* This is a very fun 56 book series that all takes place in the same town and that I personally think is best read in chronological order for max enjoyment. However, there are sub-series within this series that fall into different romance sub-genres and can simply be read independently, if you so choose. So tucked within this 56 book series there’s an MC series, a security firm series, a fixer firm series, a mafia family series and a loan shark family series that can all be read as their own independent series. I’m almost finished with this series and I have to say, it’s been one of my favorites! Couldn’t recommend it more highly. Also, can we just give a slow clap for how incredibly prolific the author, Jessica Gadziala is? If only we could all write an endlessly fun, totally binge-worthy 56-book series, am I right?
