You guys know by now that my typical uniform usually involves jeans of some sort. I’m always on the move and great pair of jeans that can take me from work to weekend and beyond with ease are a staple in my closet. They’re my wardrobe my lifeblood. My go-to. Denim is and has always been one of the great loves of my life, and that’s mostly because I can tackle almost anything in a pair of jeans – house projects, production projects, travel, meetings, lunch, brunch, dinner, dog parks and more. But when the weather warms up my love for jeans is suddenly replaced by my affection for another casual-cool style staple – easy, breezy, comfy dresses, specifically midi dresses, that I can throw on and go. And that time of year has officially arrived here in Phoenix, so what better time to round up my favorite spring and summer midi dresses from around the web, that are all under $150 (or very close to it).
Wearing: Who What Wear Dress, Sam Edelman Sandals (also love these similar sandals), Brixton Hat, Zara Bag (also obsessed with this cutie that would be perfect with this dress)

Why midi dresses specifically? They’re just so darn practical! Versatile. Easy to wear. The midi length is so fuss-free. It’s such a flattering length on basically any shape, and makes me feel good on even my worst days – those days when about a hundred garments end up crumpled up on the floor because I’m really not feelin’ myself. Which means that they’re the dresses that will work really hard in my wardrobe and that I’ll reach for over and over again. I can also pair a midi dress with almost any shoe style, which is jut another important characteristic that lends to their versatility. Heels, flat sandals, sneakers and more. It all works, which means that I could utilize the same midi dress for about thousand different occasions and give it a different feel every time. How many pieces in your wardrobe can you say that about?
Luckily, the midi trend doesn’t appear to be going anywhere any time soon, and the styles just keep getting better, with so many affordable options out there this year to love. I’m personally drawn to cotton and linen styles, particularly because they help me survive those dreaded triple digit summer months in Phoenix comfortably, but what I love about simple, casual-cool, easy breezy midi dresses like this is that they’re so easy to layer up if you’re headed to cooler temps throughout the spring and summer. I always bring my favorite midi dresses home to Northern Michigan with me when I head up there during the summer, and I just pack a couple of versatile little jackets (love a good denim jacket for this purpose) for the chilly nights there when a little one-layer linen midi dress doesn’t give me the warmth I need. That’s such an easy way to pack for spring/summer adventures in general, too!
This particular midi dress is one of the most affordable options in my entire roundup, and I could not be more obsessed with it. It’s from Who What Wear’s spring collection at Target, and it’s under $30. As in, it’s the best $28 I think I’ve ever spent. It fits like a glove (I’m wearing an XS), is such wonderful quality for the price point and can be easily modified if you, like me, enjoy throwing a brown leather belt on with it instead of the cotton tie that comes with it. I paired it with my favorite, comfy, fun spring sandals here, but I also just wore it with these slip-on Converse platform sneaks and this J.Crew denim jacket, and I think I love both looks equally. I was also a little bit worried about how this dress would wash, but I just washed it on delicate in cold water and hung dry it followed by a quick little low heat fluff int the dryer, and it didn’t give me any issues!
Some other under $150 midi dress gems I’m loving? Well, I also bought this other $28 gem from Target at the same time and have already worn it 3 times in under 2 weeks. I also couldn’t love this white cotton and lace midi more, have a serious crush on this tiered chambray smock dress, 100% need this embroidered gingham beauty, adore this pretty blue linen blend stunner, can’t get enough of this perfectly ladylike collared pink and white check dress, and am drooling over this rose pink check midi, this ballet pink linen-blend midi and this navy and white polkadot midi. There are so many more to love in the Shop widgets above and below, so make sure you scroll through to see all of the midi dress amazingness! I promise that there’s at least one… or seven in there that you need in your life stat!
