As is evidenced by the name of our blog and the eyeglasses that can frequently be seen on our faces, finding great glasses is kind of our thing. And even more than that, finding stylish, affordable glasses online (for both men and women) has become one of our missions in life, since neither of us wears contacts and we have yet to find frames that fit both of those requirements in stores. So as we navigate the sometimes murky, yet ever-improving and evolving world of buying eyeglasses online, we share what we find with you guys and turns out, our posts about what we’ve found have been some of our most popular posts here on this little blog (Check out our Comprehensive Guide to Buying Affordable Glasses Online). So four-eyed friends unite! You’re in for another round of talkin’ specs and today’s topic is one of our very favorite topics in that realm. Fall specs!

We’re not sure why this is, but for some reason specs just feel fall-like to us. No idea why that is, but maybe it’s that 1) specs can feel kind of scholarly and since Fall signifies the start of a new school year the season can feel a little bit scholarly in general and 2) glasses typically come in really rich colors and patterns that often fit within the Fall color palette, like tortoise, brown, navy, burgundy, etc. All or none of that may actually be a thing, but that’s our reasoning for now. It’s just a vibe, people. A vibe. That said, we thought it would be so much fun to round up our favorite affordable, stylish Fall specs out there and show you guys the new frames we’re trying in hopes that it gets you guys excited to take the leap and switch up your specs game this season, too because… new specs, new you!
I’m stepping outside my own comfort zone this season and trying one new style that I’ve actually been dying to try for a few years now, but never found a pair I loved & took the leap. Clubmasters! The “Clubmaster” style is a classic style that has enjoyed a bit of a resurgence in popularity in the last few years, and I absolutely love my classic Clubmaster sunglasses and wear them all the time. So I’ve been searching and searching to replicate that love in a pair of prescription eyeglasses, but had a hard time finding something with a gold metal frame and some sort of tortoise accent at an affordable price point, so when I stumbled upon these gold and tortoise Clubmaster glasses on EyeBuyDirect I was sold! And so far I’m loving them. They’re a great, medium sized frame and I’m pretty convinced that they’d look good on really any face shape. They’re also really lightweight and their classic color combo makes it so that they pair nicely with casual or slightly more polished ensembles of all kinds. Mostly, I’m just loving the fact that they’re such a shift from the rest of the Wayfarer/cat eye/square styles I already have in my arsenal.
As for other awesome and awesomely affordable Fall eyeglasses out there that I’m loving for the ladies, I’m trying the larger size (Medium as opposed to Small) in the Notting Hill from EyeBuyDirect and really liking that (I’m wearing them in this post). I have the smaller size and absolutely love them, but have admittedly banged them up pretty badly over the last couple of years. So instead of ordering the same exact pair/size again, I decided that I’d try the larger frames on for size and they’re awesome! They’re not giant by any means, and I enjoy the slightly oversized look. I actually enjoy having both sizes to choose from, though I’m not really sure I’d categorize it as “necessary”. But they’re pretty cheap so… ya only live once! I’m also really loving these slightly rounded classic tortoise glasses, these oversized blush/ivory tortoise beauties, these fun leopard print cuties, and these slightly rounded flecked beauties! And there are so many more women’s frames that I love in the “Shop” widgets above and below.
Chris scored his sweet new specs during one of EyeBuyDirect’s epic sales recently, and I was so jealous when they arrived in the mail. Dude is always on top of the glasses game and never fails to have a fresh pair of specs to kick off a new season. I love it! He’s been absolutely loving this style, too. They’re a slightly more rounded style than his typical square styles that he wears, and he says that he’s really liking the look and fit. He likes that they’re not drastically round, but that they have that smart rounded shape and a have a fun, blue/green tortoise fleck that catches the light and “funks” them up a little bit. They’re classic, but not boring which is exactly what he was looking for since he has a lot of all black and all brown frames.
I think we get more questions about where to find affordable, stylish glasses from men than we do women, and we love it! Kudos to all the dudes out there just tryin’ to get their specs right. It makes sense to care about this tiny accessory if you have to wear them though, doesn’t it? They’re front and center on your face and can make a serious first impression, much like your smile, so taking the time to find a great pair of glasses that are stylish, complementary in color and the perfect shape for your face is totally valid in our eyes (pun totally intended)!
But it doesn’t mean that you have to spend your life’s savings to have all of that, especially since they’re slightly fragile little buggers. So dudes, Chris took a lot of time to find his very favorite new Fall frames out there that are both classic and current in shape, come in really wearable, but not in any way boring colors and patterns, and are totally affordable so you won’t spend your life’s savings. He’s a firm believer that if you have to wear glasses every day to function, you should be able to have a few different pairs to choose from that work with every outfit and setting.
He’s loving this Clubmaster style, these cool honey brown slim Wayfarer frames and this awesome square Burgundy pair. Again, there are so many more Fall glasses for the guys that Chris loves in the “Shop” widgets above and below, so make sure you check those out!
Specs are like anything else you wear — it’s hard to step outside your comfort zone, but it’s so much easier to do when you don’t have to break the bank, right? Which is why our favorite places to buy glasses online are sites like Zenni, EyeBuyDirect and Coastal, all of which sell extremely affordable, but really sharp, stylish frames in an abundance of colors and shapes. Also, if you’re buying from EyeBuyDirect the fact that you save so much on frames means that you can upgrade to their premium lense choices and still not blow your budget. So that’s a no brainer for us.
And if all of that still doesn’t make you feel like you can throw trade in your taped together, barely hangin’ on old specs for something slightly more current, you can always head over to Warby Parker and take advantage of their Home Try On program, which we love and utilize often, to try a bunch of frames you’re interested in and see what you like on your face before you buy. And if that process sounds intimidating or like a lot of fuss, trust us when we tell you that they make it super easy and almost effortless for you. Swear.
OK have we convinced you, all of our four-eyed and fabulous friends out there to switch up those specs for Fall and dive into a fun new style? Remember there are tons of styles to peruse in the Shop widgets above and below, so make sure you scroll through those if you’re in the mood for something new. So many colors and styles to love in there!
