Wearing Bird of Flight Ankle Strap Flats, Anthropologie Sweater Top, Levi’s Jeans
It’s another exciting day here on the blog because Part Two in our three-part series all about a shoe brand that I love and that casual-cozy-cool girls the world over need to know about, Bird of Flight, is here! If you missed Part One of the series last week on the blog where I styled the cutest, coolest suede moccasin booties for spring, head here to read all about them and see all of the desert-dreamin’ pics. You guys seemed to love the moccasin booties, which makes me so happy because I do, too! PS they’re still available in just a few sizes in both the brown and black on Anthro’s site!
To recap, Bird of Flight’s founder and my lovely, super talented friend Naomi Reed brings her unique breed of California cool to these lovingly crafted shoes that were made for women who crave effortless style, care about craftsmanship and aren’t willing to sacrifice comfort. They’re timeless, which is one of the things I love most about them. Bird of Flight’s shoes are made in Brazil, a country whose history is rooted in quality shoemaking and whose people care deeply about their craft, their environment, and their community and the shoes are so comfortable because their uppers and linings are made from insanely soft, vegetable tanned, naturally dyed leathers that only look and feel better with age and wear. These beauties are built to get better with every wear, so they can remain staples in your closet for years, not months!
Today’s spring-ready shoes are a total shift in style from moccasin bootie, but still have a little bit of that desert-inspired boho flair that Bird of Flight does so well. These fun, feminine and once again beautifully crafted flats with the most perfectly flattering ankle strap are such a versatile shoe style that can go from work to weekend wear with ease, and can be paired with just about anything from skirts to dresses to jeans, which is why I love having a style like this in my arsenal. Ankle straps are everything! The sun was soaking every inch of us while we were out shooting these pics which hides the detail a little bit, but these shoes have a really subtle, geometric, Southwest-inspired pattern etched into the leather on the top of the foot, which is the kind of subtle design detail that Naomi always nails. She’s a genius, I tell ya! I’m a sucker for a perfectly placed, understated detail, so that made my heart so happy when I took these out of the box.
As I mentioned in Part One, shoes have long been a favorite topic of mine on the style front, and that’s mostly because a) they’re just so much fun and b) If done right, shoes can completely transform an outfit and work really hard in your wardrobe. Nowadays I basically wear two pairs of really versatile shoes that I absolutely love throughout a season. Those two shoe styles have to be awesome enough to make every getup or combination feel fresh and new, which is why I focus on investing in quality shoes that are as comfortable as they are stylish and only get better with each wear. These are such a great neutral, comfortable, flattering flat that will go a long way for me this spring, and the tiny bit of lift that the little block heel provides is exactly the kind of shoe sorcery I need in my life. I need all the help I can get!
Like I mentioned last week, you can find new Bird of Flight shoe styles dropping at Anthropologie, Free People, Clad & Cloth and in stores across the country all the time, but you have to be quick! Every style sells out in a flash, so my advice is that if you see something you love, grab it before it’s gone! This particular style sold out so insanely fast everywhere that I didn’t even get the chance to post them here and show you guys before they were gone. The good news? Tons of seriously gorgeous new spring styles are making their way to all of those sites and stores right now. You can shop the Lola flat, which I’m personally obsessed with and need in my life ASAP, the similar Lacey flats that are perfect for casual-cool spring and summer livin’, the adorable perforated Happy bootie, and a bootie that I feel like I’ve been waiting my whole boot-loving life to live in, the Gameboy bootie! I love the low profile on the Gameboy bootie – perfect for pairing with pants or fun spring skirts! Or you can take peak at all of the goodness that Naomi has in store for Bird of Flight this spring by checking out their spring ‘19 lookbook on the Bird of Flight site.
How much fun are these? Do you guys love a good ankle strap as much as I do? The Bird of Flight goodness continues in the coming weeks when we dive into Part 3, the final installment of our spring shoe madness, and it’s gonna be so good! I’m so excited for you guys to see what shoe style and casual-cool spring getup we have in store for Part 3 and hope you guys continue to feel inspired to live your best, easy breezy spring shoe lives when you see what we’ve cooked up!
