You guys know we’re all about effortless, casual-cool, approachable style around here that we can live in and love, that keeps us polished, but also fits right in with our active lifestyle. Hiking, biking, house projects and just about any adventure we can get into, we have to be able to do it all without fussy clothes holding us back! Last week on the blog I covered one of my favorite easy style staples for spring and summer, the midi dress which fits that bill in its own way, and today’s dress was actually included in that roundup of my favorite effortless, affordable spring/summer midi dresses! But today I wanted to build on that topic and tackle a classic outfit combo that I revisit over and over again throughout the warmer months that helps me stay cool (literally) and polished, but also lets me move around and stay mobile – a classic sneaker paired with an easy, breezy dress!

This combo is one of my first loves and about as effortless to throw together and go as it gets, so I rounded up all of my favorite spring/summer dresses under $150 again today with a few fun additions to the lineup I included last week, and also included a roundup of all of my favorite classic, versatile sneakers that are polished enough to pair with almost any dress to create a look that you can rock all spring, summer, and even fall long for work, play, parkour and everything in between. Because sometimes you’re walking home from work and you just wanna kick flip off a park bench, no? Just me? Whatever your pleasure this combo will take you wherever you need to go, with minimal effort, keep you pulled together and completely comfortable, and make every woman around you think you’re a total style genius. And bonus, this combo is perfect for all of those summer travel adventures! Easy to pack, space-saving and about as versatile as it gets so you can easily mix and match!
I talked about this platform Converse sneaker style here on the blog last fall in this post, but I’m still aware that the platform sneaker isn’t for everyone. Much to my own surprise, I still love it because it actually gives me extra cloud-like cushion and a little bit of lift which I think can be really flattering, but know that I’ve included tons of classic non-platform sneakers in the “Shop” widgets above and below for you to peruse. This particular pair of Converse is a little bit different than the suede pair I bought in the Fall – they’re slip-ons, which is the ultimate fuss-free sneaker style that I’m convinced everyone needs in their closet! But I will say that once you own a few pairs of leather sneakers, white fabric sneakers like these start to seem slightly impractical, but I just loved these so much that I had to give them a go. My problem is that once sneakers start to get dirty and can’t be easily cleaned after each wear, I get a little annoyed and they sort of lose their versatility in my wardrobe. Which is why, despite the many reviews I’ve seen that say they’re ridiculously comfortable, my personality type just can’t stomach throwing down $500 on Golden Goose sneakers that look like they got in a bar fight. I wholeheartedly appreciate and applaud the women that can do it – they’re better women than me. My cleanliness OCD would be in overdrive owning those, which is why I love a good clean leather sneak that I can easily spiff up when they get scuff marks or dirt on them. Pair a good scrub/wipe down with a little leather conditioner and they’ll last forever!
Because C and I are both equally sneaker obsessed and you guys seem to be slightly sneaker obsessed, too (which we couldn’t be happier about!), we usually do a “his & hers sneaker” post for every season, but today’s just for the ladies! C promises that we’ll do one for the guys once some of the summer styles start to come out and he can do it properly. Around Father’s Day perhaps? Either way we’ll make it happen because I know he has a few new favorites that he has his eye on these days, and we all need to make sure our guys are lookin’ fresh, right ladies?
Ok so you’ve seen all of my favorite easy, breezy, affordable spring-summer dresses like this one, this one and this one a couple of times now, and though I just love a good midi and just personally prefer that length over anything else, I do love a good sneaker/mini combo, too. If that’s more your speed, this striped “mini” and this mini would so perfect! But as far as sneakers go, I have been lusting over these nude leather Ecco sneaks this season because they’re just so sweet, simple and sleek. Chris actually is the men’s golf shoe version of them and they’re pretty awesome! I also love these adorable Keds, these pretty Vejas, these washable leather Sperrys, and these blush scalloped leather Converse that I have and have basically been wearing nonstop ever since I got them. They’re perfect. And though these are a little bit more expensive than the rest in the roundup, I am so in love with the blush, white and grey versions of these Blackstone sneakers. There are so many more simple, versatile spring/summer sneaks to love that I included in the “Shop” widgets, so make sure you scroll through those to see them all! Your feet will thank you.
And just as a friendly PSA I feel it critical to tell you that I am living for this faux leather bag seen in the pics, and it’s under $70! You can wear it three different ways – crossbody, clasped and handheld like I have it in the pics or just handled as a bucket bag. I’m not sure what wild hair made me buy it when I saw it in the store that day, but for some reason I thought it would be really useful and turns out, it totally is! I wear it almost every single day right now and love that I can wear it so many different ways to pair with different looks and feels. It’s also that perfect size that fits all of my necessities without being too big or too small. Win!
