Today is all about one of our favorite fabrics on the planet that’s about as versatile as a Swiss Army knife, vinegar, duct tape and salt – chambray! Yes, chambray is the salt of the fabric world. It’s well documented that chambray is one of our favorite fabrics for spring and summer (or really all year round) because it’s relaxed, casual, soft, romantic and has a classic, slightly vintage vibe, which pretty much sums up both of our style senses. And sure, we may be a little addicted to chambray, but can you blame us? No. No you can’t.

Today we’re wearing his & hers chambray looks that are perfect for the impending warm weather season to inspire you to join in our love for chambray! Chambray just has this approachable, inviting quality to it that instantly makes us want to hug whoever’s wearing it. Weird? Nope! It can be dressed up or dressed down, paired with just about anything and has a complimentary soft blue hue that looks good on pretty much anyone that wears it… Hamlet the yorkiepoo included. Which is exactly why we just can’t let this little love affair go!
I’ve been coveting this pretty chambray “Lucy” midi dress with a ruffled hem and tie shoulders by Rebecca Minkoff ever since I spotted it, and it’s every bit as dreamy and easy to wear as I’d hoped it would be. I seriously don’t think I’ve ever loved a summer dress more and I can’t wait to wear it casually with cute slide sandals this summer like these and these or a little bit more “casually” dressed up with block-heeled leather sandals like the ones I’m wearing here or straw and leather wedges like these beauties! This would be the perfect guest dress for an outdoor summer wedding, baby shower or bridal shower. Sizing note — I’m wearing an extra small, which is my normal size and feel it runs true to size. Also I’m 5’7″, if that gives you and idea of where the hem may fall for your own height.
Chris wanted to take a dive into a popover chambray shirt style for the first time since he has so many full chambray button ups, both short and long sleeved, and he said that he was surprised how well this one from J.Crew fit! He thought it may be too boxy a style for him, but he doesn’t feel like it’s boxy at all and actually loves the cut and how soft and light the chambray is. He paired it with his favorite navy AG Jeans “Graduate” pants and of course, those light leather sneakers he’s loving so much this season. A win all around!
Seriously guys we don’t think chambray ever goes out of style. People have been wearing this fabric for both fashion and function for decades, so to keep the chambray love going and convince you to step into chambray this summer we rounded up our favorite chambray pieces for him and her in the widgets above and below! Truth be told, I’m currently devising a plan to weave some soft, lived-in, relaxed chambray fabric into our master bedroom. So basically, I just want it everywhere.
There are so many styles and pieces to chose from – shirts, tops, long sleeves, short sleeves, dresses, shorts, skirts and even shoes. Something for everyone! But let us know in the comments section below where you stand on chambray and why – we’re so interested to know if you guys love it as much as we do or if you’re just completely over it and want it to go away for good. Cheers to Friday Eve!
I’m not going to lie…I am OBSESSED with Chambray. I love all of these looks and am hoping my hubby will jump on the Chambray bandwagon, too!
