Hey, party people! This last weekend we were knee deep in house projects, including one super fun Offer Up adventure/furniture makeover project that not only was one of the most hilarious Offer Up experiences we’ve had to date, but has been one of our favorite furniture makeover’s we’ve tackled. So make sure you check back here on Thursday to see what cool furniture piece we gave a facelift and what the end result looks like! So, so fun.
Today’s post is short, sweet and full of inspiration and it’s all about one of our very favorite holidays, the 4th of July! 4th of July entertaining, to be exact. We’ll obviously be bringing you our annual 4th of July style guide soon because duh, we love roping you into our family’s tradition of doing our best festive fashion for the 4th, but we also love getting festive in other ways for the 4th and that includes finding super cool, not-even-a-little-bit-lame ways to entertain and eat that don’t require us to expend a lot of energy. Our Pinterest boards are full of inspo right now! Sure sure, there are tons of the same old same old decor and entertaining ideas for the 4th floating out there in Pinterest land and that’s all fine. But this year we’ve been seeing some seriously stylish and unique 4th of July entertaining and recipe ideas pop up on Pinterest that are anything but a snooze fest, most of which revolve around taking the party outside. Need we say more? Sign us up!
So today we’re bringing you our 5 favorite easy, unique 4th of July outdoor entertaining ideas that are anything but lame and that we’ve been inspired by this year, in hopes that this will get you guys super excited for the upcoming holiday and give you some killer ideas for entertaining this 4th with minimal effort and major payoff. Behold, the Pinspiration…
Watermelon Mint Lemonade Slushies
Left: Half Baked Harvest Right: Oh So Delicioso
Watermelon lemonade is having a serious moment this season and for darn good reason – it’s freakin’ delicious! Also, it’s beautiful and add a little mint and make it in slushie form and we’re pretty sure your friends and family will be calling you Martha this 4th of July. Does it get any cuter? There’s definitely room to add a splash of booze to these recipes and make one version for the kiddos, and one for the adults. Because… celebration!
Edible Summer Table Runner
Left & Right: Paper & Stitch
We’re going to be completely honest – appetizers always give us anxiety. We know party guests will get hungry waiting for the main food event, but our creative appetizer ideas usually begin and end at charcuterie boards. That is until we saw edible table runners taking over the entertaining scene this summer! Not only are they gorgeous as a decor element, but they’re such a great way to throw together an easy appetizer that people can enjoy. Minimal effort with a big, stylish payoff. Just our speed. This summer-inspired edible table runner by Paper & Stitch is perfect for the 4th and is basically guaranteed to impress your guests of every age. We’d definitely amend this one by cutting some of the whole fruits into smaller more party-ready pieces, but that’s easily done.
White Wine Slushies
Left: Pineapple & Coconut Right: Cooking With Books
Do we even need to explain this one? Pretty, easy, refreshing and boozy. Those are basically our requirements for any 4th of July treat so… it’s a win all around! For whatever reason, white wine slushies are the rosé of 2018, and we’re loving every second of it. Again, anything we can make in slushie form and add booze to is cool with us. These are so much more fun and creative than those tired old standard summer cocktails, don’t you think?
Sparkling Water Bar Station
Left: Craftberry Bush Right: La Jolla Mom
I love the fresh, summery feel of the styling that Craftberry Bush did on the lemonade-inspired summer bar cart on the left and it would be absolutely perfect when executed as a sparkling water bar station that’s perfect for all ages for 4th of July festivities! Unless you’ve been living under a rock or hate puppies, sunsets and the heart eyes emoji, you’re into the sparkling, flavored water trend. So a stylish, simple, fresh outdoor sparkling water bar where guests can pick from an array of flavors is just the ticket this year! Too easy.
Picnic in a Jar
Left: The Gunny Sack Right: Jenny Cookies
A picnic in a jar? A BBQ in a jar? Strawberry shortcake in a jar? Does it get more American or more 4th of July-perfect than that? No. No it doesn’t. Anything in jars that friends and family can enjoy while mingling on 4th of July is so right up our alley, and we also love that as hosts we can dole out the rations so none of your guests can hoard the strawberry shortcake. Hey, we need leftovers! And a portable picnic in a jar that you can tote with you to feed the fam while you catch the fireworks? Pure genius. I’ll take 5, please.
Love all of your fun and beautiful ideas – eye candy! We make an edible table runner out of freshly caught steamed crabs and clams from our beach with boiled potatoes and corn on the cob (aka crab boil). Everyone always enjoys this fun, eat with your hands, summer celebration!
