I can’t even believe I’m writing this. I just can’t believe it. We’re still so shocked & sad & just plain, all around devastated. It still kind of doesn’t feel real, but the hard truth is, it is real. And it sucks. Our beloved pup Elvis, the guy who has brought so much love & joy & mischief & laughter into our home & our family for the last 2 years crossed the rainbow bridge this week after a shock cancer diagnoses and an all too quick decline. We never in a million years thought that the pup we brought home 2 years ago, the dog we envisioned growing up with our kids, being a central part of our family dynamic and our memories for years and years to come, would leave us this soon. It’s not fair. He didn’t deserve this. He was always so healthy & so loved & the helplessness, sadness & anger we’ve felt over these last few months as Elvis declined & we got his diagnosis was just beyond brutal. I haven’t really been able to find the meaning in it right now, but what I do know is that we loved him with our whole hearts, and so did everyone else. And I still believe that although loving something, anything this much can be hard & heartbreaking at times, it’s worth it every single time. I’d do it all over again for 2 years with Elvie by my side & so would Chris. He was truly a 1 in a million companion. 🌈
