Happy Friday, friends! Ahhh it feels so good to say that, doesn’t it? If you feel like you have an extra pep in your step on this fine Friday, you’re not alone. Fall is inching closer, I have 48 hours to fully immerse myself in whatever house or DIY projects I want and life. is. good.
Today I thought I’d do a fun Favorite Fall Frames roundup for you and give you the rundown on all of the eyeglasses I’m loving for fall for any woman, with any face shape and any style sense. I always get so many questions from you guys both here and on Instagram about my glasses (FYI both Chris and I are nearsighted, so driving, sporting events and just about any activity under the sun can be brutal without our specs), and lately I’ve been wearing the Warby Parker Preston in Gimlet Tortoise a lot. But every fall, without fail, it always feels like time to add another pair or two to my collection and start sporting some fresh specs, and it’s usually when I start to spend a really inappropriate amount of time before bed searching for specs. It’s a little nuts. You guys seemed to love the Favorite Fall Frames roundup I did last year, which may partially be because sifting through all of the glasses purveyors around the web for the best of the best can be daunting. Really daunting. I feel like frames today can be, as my girlfriend says, “aggressively hipster”, extremely outdated or insanely expensive for a tiny plastic accessory that you’re highly likely to break or lose. So it’s a delicate dance searching for the right specs. But have no fear – I’ll lead you to the promise land.
This year I’ll switch up the order of things a bit and start by running through my five go-to sites for finding a solid selection of stylish frames for every face shape and at every price point. I have a few go-tos and they have yet to let me down, so just as long as you know what you’re getting from each of these sites, this will serve as a great guide if you’re new to the glasses game or have solely stuck to your optometrist’s in-house selection up until now. Yikes.
1. Warby Parker
Warby just has great frames period. They’re solid, high quality frames at prices I think most bespectacled people can live with, and their home try-on program is one of my very favorite things about them. I love that I can try a bunch of their stylish frames in real life before I commit and that it’s a fast, easy process to do so. All online specs purveyors could benefit from having that, in my opinion.
2. Coastal
Coastal is great because they have such a wide variety of frames to choose from, both from brands I know and love and brands that are unique to them that other specs sites don’t have. They also have a great selection of fun, quirky colors that other sites don’t have. And everything is affordable, which is always a bonus.
3. Eye Buy Direct
Eye Buy Direct is wonderful for one main reason – price point. Their frames are exceptionally affordable and they’re all really stylish. They have every style under the sun, so they’re guaranteed to have a style you love in a variety of colors to choose from.
4. Glasses USA
Glasses USA has a little bit of everything. They have a lot of recognizable brands, a wide variety of fun styles to check out and their ordering process is simple and straightforward. They also frequently have major discount codes, which is always a plus when you’re shopping designer frames.
5. SmartBuyGlasses
Don’t be put off by the name – this site is, in fact, legit. They sell designer frames at slightly discounted prices and there’s a HUGE selection to choose from. They’ve been around for about a decade now and they really have every brand and style you would possibly want and they make ordering fairly simple. This mint pair of Chloe glasses is amazing, as is this pair of blue Chloe glasses and this pair of tortoise Ted Baker specs with a hint of seafoam. The only downside to this site is that the images aren’t great making it tough to get a really good look at the frames.
Bonus Round: EZ Contacts
Another one where you shouldn’t let the name deter you – they, too have great frames from brands you’ll love at majorly discounted prices, and their ordering process is quick, simple and straightforward. I just ordered this pair of Persol glasses from this site and I can’t wait for them to get here! They also have great images, although most don’t have multiple angles, which can be a bummer.
So, what about my favorite brand in general? Well, like I said Warby Parker is their own brand and I always love their frames, but outside of that, if I had endless fundilation to spend on specs, my favorite brands to wear would be Persol and SALT Optics. Persols are timeless, Italian classics and they’re the highest of high quality. And their styles are just SO good. Persols aren’t flashy, but they’re effortlessly chic. Simple and stunning with a bit of a classic, retro flair and their specs are sold in many an online retailer and you may have seem them in store if you typically shop for glasses at Lenscrafters. SALT is relatively new to the optics scene compared to some of the other old standbys, but I’ve just fallen completely in love with every single style in their lineup over the last couple of years. Their frames will set you back a few bones, but in my opinion it’s totally worth it. They’re also very high quality and I’m certain that most of their frames would look good on any face, plus they have just really beautiful colors and gradients in their arsenal. A local specs purveyor here in Phoenix, Framed Ewe sells them and you can look on SALT’s site to see where they’re sold in your city!
And now for the main event! I’ve combed this season’s new arrivals on my favorite specs sites around the web and found 10 frames I absolutely love that are perfect for freshening up your geek-chic look this fall! As you guys may have noticed, I personally prefer a more square frame, really enjoy classic tortoise and am always up for a fun/funky pop of color. There are styles in here for every face shape and just about every sensibility. Classic, modern, oversized, etc… it’s all there. Feel free to ask me any of your burning specs questions in the comments section below and let me know which frames you’re loving for fall – I’ll add them to my list! Happy specs shopping!
Your glasses choices are so amazing! Every fall I tend to get a new pair, too, for back to school/teaching! I am obsessed with your tortoise ones. I have some tortoise Kate Spades from a few years back (I am lucky I can keep wearing them over the years– my vision isn’t getting toooo much worse), and a black pair of Fendi ones with blush inside! I really need to try the WP specs. SO cute!

Aw thank you, Mary! So glad you like them! There are so many fun and funky new styles out there right now. It’s so hard to choose! Those WP tortoise ones that I always wear (the Preston) would look so fab on you! My vision hasn’t really changed either in the last few years – but I get nervous every year when I go for my exam! Hahaha
