After last week’s “secret garden” post about the pretty little corner of our Phoenix neighborhood that we found that’s overflowing with orange trees and flowers, we realized that we take a lot of photos around our lush, green neighborhood, but rarely give you guys a glimpse of the desert landscape that this city is so famous for and that brings droves of spring visitors our way. So we thought we’d switch it up this week and give you some of those classic spring desert vibes with a little cactus, a little mountain backdrop and desert galore!

And after exploring this little desert oasis just below Camelback mountain, we were excited to get the chance to get out for a Saturday night date night last weekend that really kept the desert vibes rolling and that involved some delicious guac, tasty tacos and my favorite coconut cocktail (seriously… it comes in a coconut) at a restaurant we’ve been loving as of late, Diego Pops. It’s not necessarily a new spot anymore and we have no idea if it’s still considered the “hip” place to be, but for some reason this restaurant just speaks our language! And hey, we go where the good guac is.

We laugh about the fact that it’s right in the middle of the most touristy area of town, but is somehow the perfect, cozy little eatery that feels totally isolated from the chaos. We love sitting outside in the open air up at their pretty bar and dissecting all of the fun and funky Southwest-inspired design details that make up their gorgeous, super unique space. And yes, I order the Guava Coconut cocktail every time and no, I’m not afraid who knows it. It’s delightful and makes me feel like I’m on vacation. And I love it. They adobo chicken tacos are also the kind of tacos that make me never want to eat anything else. Ever.
I promised you guys that I’d style these Madewell Cali Demi Boot Jeans so you can see what they actually look like on a real human and not a perfectly proportioned model, so here they are! I really love these jeans for a couple of reasons. The first is that they forced me to step outside my 100% cotton, dark, high-waisted mom jeans obsession and embrace a new denim style to pair with those pretty spring tops and the second is that they’re extremely comfortable and fit really well around the waist, bum and thighs. Always a win in my book.
They’re definitely a little funky with the cropped, destructed hem, but I think it’s so fun! They also have this same style in a few other versions – I’m really loving them in “Larkspur Wash” without the destructed hem.
This white balloon sleeve embroidered tunic from H&M is super fun to wear (it also comes in black with purple embroidery, which is so cute) and who doesn’t love a huge sleeve with some pretty details?! There’s no denying that it’s bold, so I’ve been dressing it down with destructed denim to give it a little bit of a relaxed, boho vibe. I’m wearing a size 4 here, and it’s perfectly oversized, like it should be. I typically wear an XS/S in tops for reference.
And I fell in love with these turquoise statement earrings the second I saw them! How major are these? I talked all about my love for pairing a fun, colorful statement earring with a casual spring outfit a couple of weeks ago on the blog, and I’m not even close to over it. The turquoise fit right in with our desert date night vibe, too!
Chris kept it casual-cool as always, and of course that involved a spring-ready short sleeve chambray shirt and his signature leather sneaks. Also, how cool are those wine-colored Levi’s 501 corduroys? They’re sold out in that color as far as I can see, but they come in a bunch of other in-stock colors and I also found this super similar pair. Chris’ custom sterling silver and turquoise cuff that was created just for him for our wedding by our gorgeous and talented friend Renee from T.Bene Jewelry is also perfect for this little desert date night adventure because the turquoise is from a mine right here in the fine state of Arizona! It’s the only “accessory” you’ll catch C wearing on a daily basis and I love it as much as he does. It’s so so special.

We hope you guys all have a beautiful Easter weekend spent with the ones you love, hopefully somewhere in the sunshine eating delicious things! Is 33 too old for an Easter basket? Naaaahhhh.
Any date night that involved guac and yummy coconut drinks is my kind of date night!!
