We’re going to be honest… this post is as much about this ridiculously pretty, overgrown, lush little corner of our neighborhood as it is about the clothes. The color and texture combinations of that pink and yellow lantana and the orange trees are pure heaven! This little secret garden is the perfect representation of why we love our neighborhood so much, and why we’ve grown so attached to it over the years. There’s just so much beauty to be seen, even in the alleyways!
If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen the moment I stumbled upon this pretty little alleyway in Arcadia last weekend. I know, I know… I’m that weird person slow rollin’ in my car, rubber necking like a weirdo at the alleyways behind other people’s houses. Neighbors, if you’re reading this and see me out there rollin’ hard around the neighborhood like a total creep, I swear it’s cool! Just a blogger doin’ blog things.

But seriously, if you’re looking for an idyllic early spring getaway, somewhere perfectly warm, sunny, convenient and with tons of activity of all kinds, this is my plug for our pretty city. Yes, we’re biased, but would we steer you wrong? Never! If you want specifics we’d love to point you in the right direction, so leave us a comment or shoot us an email if you’re looking for the inside info on all things Phoenix travel!
As for the outfits, we were both feeling the casual spring vibes last weekend and just wanted to be cozy, comfy and as relaxed as possible to enjoy a laid back weekend of house projects (well, Chris tackled most of the projects, I mostly drove around looking at alleyways like a weirdo. Kidding! Kind of?) It was ever-so-slightly chillier last weekend than it has been, so I went for some light spring layers when we took this sunset stroll on Sunday. This ridiculously soft Vince sweater that I was gifted for my birthday and that I’ll probably be wearing every time I travel for… the rest of my life is absolutely perfect for cool spring nights and mornings. I don’t think I’ve ever loved a sweater more. I’m wearing a small here because I wanted it to be slightly oversized and chunky. The XS fit perfectly, but just wasn’t as roomy as I was wanting.
And if you couldn’t tell, I’ve been going in hard on my love for espadrilles this spring. For some reason I’ve been wanting to wear these comfy kicks with every single spring outfit I’ve worn and I’m pretty sure it’s because they’re perfect mix of casual, comfortable and cute. Soludos is a brand I’ve long loved, and they just have the most fun styles in their range – I’m particularly smitten with their leather platform smoking slippers and these pink “Ciao, Bella” beauties that I have on here. Love these pink leather platform smoking slippers, too! I’m also dipping my toes into the world of small diamond-cut silk scarves like this one and their versatility as hair accessories. My hair is really smooth, so slippery hair accessories typically don’t stay put on me, but I was shocked at how well this stayed put and how easy it was to put in. I also styled it in an oversized bow around my ponytail the other day, and posted a pic of it on Instagram. I loved that option, too!
As for my main man Chris, he grabbed a light terry cardigan (not shown here) and threw it over one of his favorite soft, short-sleeved henleys (sold out in this color, other colors available here) and these super cool hunter green J.Crew Ludlow chinos (they also make them in an awesome Italian stretch chino). The fit of these chinos is a slight departure from the typical slim, straight fit of the Levi’s or AG’s he wears most, but the Ludlow pant style is a cool, kind of retro style that started in J.Crew’s suiting and he loves that they make it in a chino now. It feels slightly more polished than other classic chinos, but still casual and comfortable. Perfect for work and play.
Chris also found these amazingly affordable faux leather boots at Target of all places, and has been wearing them way more than he expected over the last month. He wanted one pair of boots that he could knock around in and not feel bad scuffing them up, spilling things on them or putting them through the ringer, and they’ve totally surpassed his expectations. Surprisingly durable and majorly comfortable!
Happy first week of Spring, guys! We hope this little look at the spring scenes around our neighborhood are giving you all the spring fever, and for all you East Coasters out there… stay strong, man. Stay strong. Sending sunshine vibes your way!
That spot looks like a little slice of spring! And I totally love your super casual but uber cute outfit.
Isn’t this spot gorgeous? We felt like we found a little slice of heaven! Thanks for stopping by, Vanessa!
I love your little scarf! I never feel like I can get mine to lay right when I tie them around my head, so I definitely need to work on my scarf-tying game. Also, my grandparents live in Phoenix and I think this is about the greenest little patch of Phoenix I’ve ever seen!!
Hahaha it definitely is probably one of the greenest little corners Phoenix has to offer, Savannah! And the scarf was such a find – it’s so hard for me to tie them correctly, too, but this one isn’t exactly a full scarf or bandana. It’s extra small and perfectly cut for this purpose! It was such a fun find!
That little spot is the perfect place to take blog photos! I can’t wait until it gets warmer here and everything starts turning green again.
I love your sweater too! The bell/big sleeves are so cute!
